You may like to know some things about the consultation.

Who am I seeing?

Dr Malatt is an ophthalmologist, or eye specialist and surgeon. She trained as a general medical practitioner and then as a specialist in diseases and surgery of the eye, and has been in clinical practice since 1992.

She performs eye surgery, diagnoses and prescribes treatment for diseases of the eyes, and performs eye health examinations.

What should I bring?

Bring you! You should also bring your glasses, your sunglasses, a list of your current medications, and your Medicare card, and concession card if applicable.

Do I need a referral?

You will need to bring a referral from your general practitioner or optometrist if you want to claim the specialist rebate from Medicare. These generally last for 12 months. It is your responsibility to have a current referral, as we do not need the referral; we can see you without it.  If you wish to see doctor without a referral, you will have to pay the full fee.

Can I drive myself?

We recommend that you bring a driver with you, as Anne may need to dilate your pupils to perform a full examination, which may blur your vision for a few hours afterwards. You may remain light sensitive for some hours too, so it makes sense to bring your sunglasses.

How long will it take?

You may be here for an hour or more. Anne does try to keep to appointment times, but emergencies can arise and sometimes delays are unavoidable. You may also require additional tests which can prolong your visit, and we try and do these on the same day for you, rather than asking you to come back again on another day. Plus, if you have driven yourself and needed dilating drops, you will need to wait around until they have worn off, so that you can see to drive safely again. Please allow enough time for your visit on the day of your appointment, or reschedule if other commitments arise or if you are unwell on the day.

How much will it cost?
